Sonoma County Radio Amateurs, Inc., is one of the largest Amateur Radio clubs in Sonoma County. Starting from humble beginnings back in the 1930's, SCRA today is into VHF/UHF FM repeaters, public service communications, ARES and other emergency preparedness, ARRL Field Day, social events and other ham radio related activities.
The club sponsors the 147.315, 224.48, and 441.375 MHz repeaters on English Hill. In addition, we have a second complete standby repeater system for emergency/disaster use, located on Castle Rock. The SCRA Service Net is held every Tuesday at 7 PM on our 2-meter (147.315 MHz) repeater. This net includes member and guest check-ins, club news, and a pre-recorded Amateur Newsline report.
SCRA has been an ARRL-affiliated club for over 50 years. We proudly support the local Amateur Radio Emergency Service ("ARES"), headed by Sonoma County District Emergency Coordinator Rich Freitas KF6SZA. ARES, an ARRL service, conducts its weekly training net on our 2-meter repeater on Monday evenings at 7:30 PM. Classroom training sessions are also conducted periodically, as announced on the ARES Net. All interested amateur radio operators are invited to check in and participate.
